The influence diagram shows how the bulge wave concept produces a set of highly desirable characteristics. These result in capital costs comparable with conventional generation plus a high capacity factor adding up to the potential for excellent cost effectiveness.

COST OF ENERGY
This is the critical metric for any generation system. Independent study, sponsored by the Carbon Trust, has resulted in a potential cost of energy which is competitive or lower than other renewable sources including wind. Since this initial study we have developed the concept further to make it more efficient. The primary aim now is to reduce the uncertainty factors in the equation so that the overall risk in the project is substantially reduced.

ISSUES
No novel technology has ever been without challenges to its introduction. Anaconda breaks new ground in many ways, but it does not demand new science or materials. Never the less, it will be the largest rubber fabrication ever made. Supplies of materials to make hundreds or thousands of machines are not a major consideration because of the large amounts of rubber used in the automotive industry, but its shear size presents new challenges.

With all renewable energy projects there is a political dimension surrounding development and particularly the will to accept and invest in large scale installations. Anaconda, by virtue of its cost effectiveness and low environmental impact, has the potential to transcend the issues which surround other projects so that ordinary commonsense will ensure its success.
